MAKEUP FOREVER TRES VICHY COLECTION

This line is KILLING ME! I LOOOOOVOVVEEEEE IT! When it comes to cutesy and sweet, I'm pretty much always a go, so when I saw the new MUFE line, you can imagine what happened!

Let's start with the 4 new shades in the Star Powder Diamond Collection. Here we have 4 limited edition pastel and irredecent shades in Diamond White, Diamond Pink with purple highlights, Diamond Pink with golden highlights and Diamond Green with golden highlights. I tested all 4 of these today and sephora and it is the same awesome pigment as all the other MUFE pigments. They will make a great addition to your spring makeup collection, and since they are multipurpose powders, you can feel good about buying them!

Next in the new collection we have the Tres Vichy false eyelashes.... oh.... my.... GOD! MUFE is known for it's crazy, exciting and beautiful false lashes, but these are ridiculous (in a good way)! Long pretty lashes with a pink and white checkered bow?! A-mazing!

And last, but not least, the Tres Vichy palettes! This duo palette is the perfect accesory for your springtime look! Featuring two diamond shadows in baby pink and white, cased in a mirrored palette, this is on my must haves list for spring 2011!!!!

Hope you guys enjoyed this quick look at an awesome new collection! I'll be able to do a full review in the next few weeks!!! Until then, Stay beautiful!!! xo

THIS BLOG IS NOW AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE!

After a bit of a struggle, I was able to change the settings on this blog to allow everyone to view and comment, (not just google or blogspot users!). Hopefully, this will satisfy all the people who have been bugging me about not being able to do so prior! ;)

Happy Reading!!!

YOUR PERFECT FOUNDATION

One of the products I get asked about most is foundation. A lot of people don't take their skin type into consideration when buying a foundation, and therefore end up with a look they don't like. Hopefully this quick guide to your perfect foundation will help you understand your skins specific needs.
The first step is recognizing your skin type.

CoMBiNaTION SKIN:
  • oily t-zone

  • enlarged pores on chin and cheeks
  • breakouts on t-zone

DRY SKIN:
  • Pores are invisible
  • skin is flakey, particularily at night

TAKE IT BACK!

How many times have you bought a lipstick or eyeshadow that you thought would look amazing on you, only to go home, try it on, and hate it? Or maybe the colour was great, but the consistency was terrible? Maybe it didn't match the outfit you wanted to wear it with? So what do you do? You throw it in a drawer and curse yourself for ever buying it. Well, NO MORE! Did you know that most beauty boutiques (including Mac and sephora) will take back any product you buy, for any reason, within 30 days, as long as you have your receipt? Even after you've tried it on! This is also true of some shoppers drug mart beauty products. You can exchange your weird colour lipstick for one that's more you!!!! That hideous eyeshadow for something new and pretty!!! You work hard for your money, so if you're not completely satisfied with your product, TAKE IT BACK!!!!!

Makeup Station

Having a neat and accessible space to do your makeup is really important. Try to think of your makeup station as your work desk. You want to be able to maneuver around things and find your makeup easily. I try to keep like colours close to each other and have separate compartments and spaces for pencils, shadows, blushes, polishes, hair products and brushes. I keep the things I use on a daily basis close, and the less often used products neatly aligned on shelves above. It is also important to keep your makeup and brushes clean to prevent dust and bacteria from settling on it. Here is a sneak peak of my makeup station at home! Enjoy!
Ps - sorry this is such a short entry, but I'm sick at the moment and need my rest!!!

HOW KAT VON D IS BLENDING IN

Since her debut on Miami Ink, Kat Von D has become a house hold name and has helped tattooed women everywhere become more accepted among the general public. It is no surprise to me, that this incredible artist, would make an equally incredible makeup line! Her eye palettes are absolutely stunning and so TRUE! Unlike so many other eyeshadows, what you see is what you get - Vivid, pigmented and brilliant! But my favourite thing about the palettes is how they are intelligently laid out. pick any colour on the palette, and the colour on either side will blend perfectly. Pick any colour on the palette, and the next two colours before or after it will blend perfectly. Let me show you a little visual!

so let's say you wanted to do a blue smokey look. You could use 2, 3 and 4 to blend into a medium shade blue smoke. You could use 1, 2 and 3 for a lighter look, or 3, 4 and 5 for a darker look! 6, 7 and 8 for a steel look! Of course you can use any colours of the palette and still achieve something awesome, but for beginners, it's a simple way to learn proper blending techniques. In case you really like this palette, it's the Metal Orchestra and is available at Sephora! The names of the colours are as follows (from left to right)

- First Class
- Techno
- Thrasher
- Dagger
- Lucifer
- Glock
- Razor Gray
- Slayer cream shadow

Other Kat pallets I adore?

Ludwig

Beethoven

Truth

I would DEFINITELY recommend picking up ANY of the Kat Von D palettes from Sephora! you won't regret it!!!

MAKE UP TO DIE FOR?

Today I was wondering around the city looking for more cosmetic lines to review, and visiting my favourite places on earth (M.A.C and Sephora). Since I already have so much information on the lines carried at Sephora and M.A.C, I decided to branch out a little and see what the typical budget beauty might be buying for herself instead, (because, let's face it, not everyone wants to spend 20 bucks on a single eyeshadow). This adventure lead me first to Winners (I believe this department store is equivalent to Target if you are a US reader). Winners carries a small variety of beauty, including E.L.F. cosmetics. I've seen lots of YouTubers vloging about there palettes, and decided to pick up a few things to see for myself. I ended up buying the "smokey eye duo kit", which comes complete with 4 duo eye shadows and all over eyeshadow brush.
So I figured, for $8.99, with 8 eyeshadow colours and a brush, this seems like something a person who is interested in makeup,  but doesn't want to spend a fortune, would buy.
I swatched all 8 colours when I got home, and they all have a pretty strong pigment for such cheapies. However it was the ingredients list that got me thinking. There is so much speculation going on right now about what ingredients in makeup are safe, and which could be potentially dangerous. I've decided to do a break down of some of the more concerning ones, and let you decide for yourself!  More specifically, PARAFFINIUM LIQUIDUM, PETROLATUM, METHYLPARABEN and PROPLPARABEN
Let me de-code all that science-y mumbo jumbo for you a little bit.

Parabens
definition: are a synthetic chemical that stops micro organisms that may be harmful, from growing on the cosmetics and help preserve the chemical integrity of the product.
warnings: parabens have estrogen like qualities and have been found in cancerous tumours. Research is still being done to determine if they effect healthy tissue.
conclusion: the FDA does not currently believe that parabens in cosmetics can lead to any health risks (October 2007).

  Paraffinum liquidum
definition: it's the super science way of saying mineral oil (go on, impress your friends)! It's also super cheap, which is why so many cosmetic companies use it! It is a petroleum by product.
warnings: mineral oil had been said to clogs your pores, promotes acne and premature aging
conclusion: i'm neither here nor there. I hear both good and bad arguments on the subject. There is no evidence that really supports either theory.

Petroleum
essentially the same as paraffinum. When you put this stuff on your skin, it creates a barrier, therefore nothing can go in, and nothing can get out. It prevents the skin from breathing and producing natural oils.

So there ya have it. A quick look at the ingredients that may not be for the eco friendly chicks! I will always suggest researching products before you try them, even if that just means talking to a beauty expert at the place you chose to buy your cosmetics. I would strongly advise against buying makeup where there is no beauty personnel to speak to, ESPECIALLY if you are not advanced in makeup.
Thanks for reading ;)

M.A.C Wonder Woman PARTY REVIEW!

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the Mac launch party. Cupcakes and cosmos, yummmmy!
I ended up purchasing:
 - The Penultimate Eyeliner (I know I've stated that it is not my favourite mac product, but the one in this collection is a thick marker, unlike the regular penultimate pen, so I wanted to try it to see if I liked it better).
- The Valiant Quad (because the greens were unique and Mac makes colours that are similar to the eyeshadows in the other two quads)
- The Emancipation Lip Glass (because I love the colour and I LOOOOVE how thick the tube and application sponge are!)
So here are so pics from the bruhaha
